Tasmanian Smithfield Dogs

Welcome to this website dedicated to a dog that is virtually uniquely Tasmanian.  The Smithfield dog has become a true product of Tasmania – one to be proud of and one to promote and protect.

A small number of people have become more aware of the uniqueness of the Tasmanian Smithfield and strive to breed to preserve the integrity of some of the old original bloodlines.  The dogs have been here for well over 100 years, and possibly not too long after the first settlers arrived about 200 years ago.

I breed only pure Smithfields, true to type and temperament.  A genuine all-round dog, once people have had a Smithfield, they just don't want anything else.
